My sister lost me at the beach when I was around 5 or 6 and I have never forgotten nor forgiven her. It was my first time going to the beach, I was very excited and remember not being able to sleep the night before. I remember we woke up around 6 am and we stopped on the way for gas and burritos. The night before, my parents prepared food to have over there, so we were all set. Once there, I was having the best time, my mom and I built sand castles, my brother had his friends drive there too and they took care of me for a while in the waves, and my dad even bought me one of those inflatable dolphins to hop onto. I was traumatized though, on one of my trips into the water, I saw a FLOATING DIAPER, and immediately ran out and pledged to never go back in. Instead, I went and ate.
After the hours of dealing with me, my mom and dad had gotten beers from the bar and basically stopped parenting, they asked my, let me add, dumb, sister to take care of me. From the start, she didn’t want to take care of me, she made grunts and faces and put me down on the sand and said, “Don’t move, I’m going into the water for a bit, DO NOT MOVE.”And guess what I did? I moved. I got up, and my sister was nowhere in the water, I couldn’t see her at all. I looked around for the cabin-like house we had our stuff in, but all I could see were buildings, huge buildings. I didn’t remember those buildings from earlier, we had walked away pretty far from the cabin, I guess my sister wanted to be shark bait all on her own out there.
